Emergency Medical Diabetes Fund
The program is administered through the Delaware State Service Centers.  Patients are evaluated and funds administered through the Delaware State Service Centers; $400 is available annually per qualified patient for the purchase of services, medications and/or supplies to manage their diabetes.  For more information about the service, contact the Delaware Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.

  • Once weekly 2.5-hour small group workshops over six weeks for Delawareans with Type 2 Diabetes
  • Highly interactive and focused on skill-building, support and experiential sharing.
  • Teaches skills in the daily management of diabetes to improve the quality of life
  • Designed to build confidence, increase knowledge about symptom control and the disease’s impact

 YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program

  • For individuals with pre-diabetes or at risk of developing type 2 diabetes
  • Learn skills to lead a healthier lifestyle, including how to eat healthier and increase physical activity
  • Meet one hour per week for 16 sessions in supportive, group setting led by lifestyle coach
  • After 16 sessions, groups meet once a month for 6 to 8 months to support their lifestyle changes
  • Program is proven to reduce risk of developing the type 2 diabetes by more than half
  • Program is conveniently offered in YMCAs and community centers throughout Delaware
  • Groups are forming now based upon community need and interest
    Program Cost: $50 for YMCA members, $100 non-YMCA Members
  • Financial Assistance available for individuals who qualify
